About Route 59

A little introduction to Route 59: what it is, why it lives on a page, the corners you'll find here, and why we're glad you stopped by.

About Route 59

Thoughts, stories, and little things that pass by

Route 59 is a small collection of thoughts, stories, musings, and observations.

Some are about things that happened a long time ago. Some are about things that happened yesterday. Some are little more than a passing thought, a memory, a conversation, or something that happened to catch our attention.

There isn't much more to it than that.

Different people may write here, and the subjects may wander. The only real thread is that these are things someone felt like putting into words before they passed by.

That's Route 59, for now.

Why Stop By?

Maybe we don't have to rush this bit

Life gets busy quickly. There is always something to do, somewhere to be, something waiting for our attention. And when everything is moving at that pace, it is easy for little things to pass by and disappear into the rear-view mirror before we have really noticed them.

Perhaps that's just how life works.

But perhaps not every moment needs to keep up.

We're already running enough. Maybe our breaks don't need to run too.

So, for a few minutes, you can sit here. Read something. Think a little. Muse a little. Or simply do nothing much at all.

No particular reason required.

And when you're ready, carry on.

Why a Page?

Some things need a little room

We live among all sorts of ways to share a thought. A few words can be enough. Sometimes a picture is enough. Sometimes a short video says exactly what it needs to say.

And sometimes, a thought needs a little more room.

A story doesn't have to be reduced to its most interesting part. A thought doesn't have to always arrive fully formed. There can be a little space between one sentence and the next, or between reading something and deciding what you make of it.

That's really why Route 59 lives here.

Not because a page is better than everything else. Just because, for the things we want to put here, it feels like the right place.

What's Here?

The subjects may wander

There probably isn't a particularly useful way to describe what you'll find here.

A story from years ago might sit next to a passing thought. Something observed yesterday might lead somewhere entirely unexpected. One piece might make you smile; another might leave you thinking about it for a while. Some may have very little to say beyond what happened.

There are no particular subjects to stick to, or boxes for things to fit into.

The only thing they have in common is that, at some point, someone felt there was something here worth putting into words.

And maybe, sometimes, that's enough.

The Aftertaste

You never quite know.

We don't really know what a piece will leave behind.

You might remember a line. You might disagree with the whole thing. You might recognize something of yourself in it, or nothing at all. You might close the page and never think about it again.

That's fine.

We're not writing with a lesson at the end, or a particular feeling we're hoping you'll arrive at. What you take from it, if anything, is entirely your own.

We just put it here and let it go.

Don't Be a Stranger

If you'd like to stop by again, you're always welcome.

There'll be something new from time to time. Sometimes a story, sometimes a thought, sometimes something we're not quite sure what to call.

You can read it here, or follow along elsewhere when we give something a little more life beyond the page.

Safe Travels

Some people may travel with us for a while.

Sometimes it may be a long while. Sometimes it may be a few days. Sometimes it may be no more than a conversation.

Some may stay. Some may wander off. Some may find their way back.

There is no particular way any of it is supposed to go.

And that's alright.

We're just glad you stopped by.

Safe travels.
